Watch a clip from the film 'The Last Prophet' about the Prophet Muhammed. Why do you think so many early Muslims were prepared to die rather than give up their faith in Allah? What other examples have there been in history of people either converting to another faith to live, or dying to maintain their faith?

Some people may give up their faith when being told they would die if they didn't. This is because faith is commitment, commitment is what god demands to follow their religion, as well as compassion and love for god. When a person dies because of their faith I is called a martyr, this means they have so much love for God they would not confess their faith and die. People of complete commitment and love for god will die for their faith, this is because there faith could be there life and giving up their faith in this case their life would mean everything to them, so they would gladly die, not to give up their life because it means so much to them. If I was in this situation I would not give up my faith, Judaism, easily, but I would give it up if faced with death, being that I value my life over god. But I would not give up my faith easily for Judaism is also my life and I love it as people who died for their religion should, just not as intensively. People who are atheist may have a different opinion because they think they only have one life, and god is not to control it or exists so they do not have a faith, only that if they were held at death point to confess their faith, being that they don’t have one, so at death point they will confess the un-real faith they do not have. However believers of a real religion, like Christianity and Judaism may not think this is true because they do believe and will have a harder decision over there life or faith.

I think that people are prepared to die rather than give up thier religion because they are devoted to it and if they did good they now if that they die then they will go to heaven with God, and they would have a nice after life.If I had a religion i would die for it because that is what i belive and no one and nothing would get in my way of doing that.

I think some people would rather die than give up their faith, because when a person is welcomed into a religious community, no matter what the faith, they have automatically taken an oath of loyalty to that religion. This means that most people live their lives around their faith (following rules such as praying, fasting, religious festivals) and make sure that they don’t do anything that is frowned upon in their community. Therefore, as they have shown commitment by doing these things, they show commitment to the religion to sticking by it no matter what the consequences. In a situation where I would have to choose my life or my religion, I personally as a non – religious person would choose to save my life, because even if I were to break a rule, I could live for longer and use that time to reflect on the failings I have done in that time.

I think some people are prepared to die rather than give up their faith because people believe in their faith, and that they will die believing in god, and that they will go to heaven when they stand up for their believes. If I was in that situation I would still believe in god and my religion, but I am not prepared to die for it. Why would I, because I have a life to lead and no faith to me is worth being told to die for.

I think people would rather die instead of giving up their faith because, they may have been brought up in a environment which was dedicated in faith of their family religion. Some people may have also been raised in a specific community which ment that they would feel bad just giving up faith as they would all be good friends and neighbors and still live all worshiping the same faith. If I was in the situation having to chose between Life giving up faith or Death keeping faith (which may lead to going to heaven depending in the religious beliefs), I am not a 100% sure on what I would pick I may make the decision as quick as i could there and then or i may think it out for a little bit and then come up with the answer. So to be honest I am not sure which i would pick it would depend If anything is at risk and the time and place. The reason some people may pick death over life for faith is that they mostly believe that they will go to heaven and live a happy after life, the reason some people would pick life is because they may see life as a thing that only happens once (most atheists) or they may think that its a sign to show there beliefs are not true otherwise they would not be in that position.

I think because the don’t want to betray their religion because after their death they are going to be in hell so think that’s why some people prepare to die rather than giving up their religion and I will do same as well because in my religion god says I Satan is going to test us so in my religion we are prepare to die

I think some people are prepared to die rather than give up the faith as this is a way of showing dedication. This is to prove to God that they would always stand by him no matter what the consequences and that they truly love God. If I were in this situation I would maybe be prepared to die rather than give up my faith knowing that I would be in a better place with God and I would have shown true love and commitment to God. This could also mean that you would be highly respected if you’re dead or not. However I may give up my faith in order to save the sorrow and pain for my love ones as I would not want them to suffer due to my consequences.

I think that people would do this as it shows dedication to your religion and that you're committed enough to sacrifice your own life for your beliefs. It also shows that you wouldn't want to give up something you love. You pledged and promised to stand by your religion and you cant just break that promise no matter how life threatening or dangerous the situation is. There is no point agreeing that you will stand by your beliefs then abandoning them when your own life is in jeopardy. People are sometimes in a situation to give up their religion, this normally will happen when two different religions disagree on which religion is the correct one. People would rather die than live without religion to show compassion for God.

I believed that people are prepared to die for their belief because they are so dedicated to their religion and their gods, they believe they will look after them and protect whatever they do and where ever they go.

The reason why some people die for their religion is because it is a commitment that you must be prepared to do, it also shows respect for God which they really want to prove to God so that they can be a priest or something nice in there second lifetime. Also it shows that you are willing to let your soul go free like in the video it might be your body that gets hurt but not your soul because you truly believe that you are doing the right thing. What i would do is die for my own religion because it would show that i have listened and showed the ultimate respect for God. It would also have shown that ever since i got baptized and i had made a commitment to do and to follow the orders that God has commanded me to do and that i was prepared to do it.

People die for their faith because they believe in it so strongly they want to show God how much they are devoted. Muslims also mainly believe that if you have been a good person you go to heaven and that if you have been bad then you go to hell. If you believe in your God at all times and have faith in him, even when your life is at risk, you go to heaven for your good deeds. If I was in that position I would lie to the people threatening me that I believe in their faith so I would live and could tell the story of what happened. I would be lying for my God to save his faith because if those people tortured all of the people in that faith and they all say ‘I will never believe in your faith’ then eventually all the people in that religion would be dead and that religion wouldn't exist anymore.

I think that people are prepared to die rather than give up their faith because it shows God that they are fully devoted to that religion. Also Muslims and other faiths believe that if they are good people and they follow their religion that will get sent to heaven, if not they will be sent to hell.

I think people who are willing to die for their faith are more religious as they didn't just portray their faith to live but they carried on believing even though they were sure to die. People are prepared to die to show god how religious they really are and how they show respect for god.

People are prepped to die because you would want to die with faith to show what you belief in. You wouldn’t want to die for what you do not belief in. If someone said I will kill you if you don’t tern into a Christian and you say no I will not that is dyeing rather than giving up your faith. I would die rather than give up my faith because I belief that I am a Muslim and that is the wrights religion.

I think that some people are prepared to die for their faith because all through their lives they have believed and worshipped it. Because of this they do not want to give it all up in a split second decision and put it all to waste so they are prepared to die for it. This is what happens in one of the scenes from the last prophet.

I think people will die rather than give up there faith because they belive in God to help them in the hereafter. If you give up your faith and you belive in God you would be sinning to God and you are giving up on God.

I wouldn't give up my faith because if I was truly passionte about it then I would go to heaven. If I converted I would be disobeying my god and would go to hell when I died. Hopefully my death would give awareness to people and help them escape the place where people were being killed

I think people wouldn't give up there faith as they have believed in it for a long time and are willing to die to keep it alive. this shows that people don't care what the risks are or what will happen to them. if they gave up this means they are disloyal and are scared of death.

I think some people are prepared to die rather than give up their faith because in the example of the prophet Muhammed when they were being thretend with their life if the person gave to the threats the religion wouldn't live on.

Some people would be prepared to die for their faith as if they give it up they would have to live in the knowledge that they gave up the one thing that mattered to them. If in this position I would give up my faith as I would be able to continue to practice it in secret

I believe that to die for your faith, you must have deep beliefs in it. For example Jesus died to keep his faith and therefore people may feel, since Jesus did this, they must do the same.

Yes, i believe a religious person should be prepared to die for what they believe in as it shows dedication to your religion and that you're committed enough to sacrifice your own life for your beliefs.
